About Us
We are a good-natured bunch of faceting enthusiasts, from the greater Central Florida area. Our Guild was formed in 2002 and we have taught more than 50 students over the last 17 years and have National Award winners among our membership, past and present, and love to share what we know. Our members travel from as far as Jacksonville to the North, Titusville to the South and from The Villages to the West.
Even if you have never faceted before, we can teach you this fascinating hobby. You'll learn to turn a simple piece of rough into a valuable gemstone, learning on one of the three new machines in the Mitchells Jewelry Studio, with an instructor right at your elbow. If you later decide to buy your own machine, we can guide you through that process as well.
Having fun and enjoying the hobby, sharing our diverse knowledge and learning by doing, are our guiding principles.
We support the Tomoka Gem and Mineral Society with their Annual Gem Show at the Volusia County Fairgrounds in January each year by putting on live cutting demonstrations and displaying cases of our finished gemstones.
During the Summer months we usually have a picnic at Deleon Springs State Park and once in a while we take field trips to collecting sites and mines. Several members attend the Annual Faceters Frolic in Franklin, NC while others attend the world's largest Gem Show in Tucson each February.
We maintain a GROUP page on Facebook which contains cutting diagrams, faceting articles, tips and tricks and lots of information on the Guild and it's members. This page is only available to paid members of the Guild. Even if you can't attend meetings you may want to join the Guild just to have access to this treasure trove!
We welcome new members of any experience level, whether expert or beginner and always welcome visitors to our meetings. Come on out and visit us!
