Welcome to the home page of
The Tomoka Faceters Guild
Wphotos and up to date information on current events concerning the Guild.
Our next meeting will be on Thursday September 15th at 7 pm. We take the months of July and August off. The September meeting will be an auction of faceting rough, cut stones, lapidary equipment, faceting equipment including laps, polishing powders, diamond powders, rough and anything else associated with faceting. 80% of sales will be kept by the seller and 20% of the sales will go to the Guild's coffers to help defray the costs of Guild activities. Please bring plenty of items for the auction and lots of cash or credit cards!
Our purpose is to promote and support the art of faceting through sharing and teaching, with a special focus in introducing others to this special hobby.
Monthly meetings of the Guild are 7:00 pm the 3rd Thursday of each month (except July and August). Meetings are held at Florida Hospital Flagler in classroom A and visitors are welcome! Click on the map page for directions.
Each meeting includes a main instructional topic, Demos, "Cut of the Month and Show and Tell" where we show stones we've recently cut, share ideas, ask and answer questions, etc., all with the emphasis on keeping it light and enjoyable! TFG Dues are $15 per year ( $20 for Family). We keep the business portions of our regular meetings to less than 15 minutes, so that we can better spend our time talking about, demonstrating, showing off our stones or sharing lots of practical tips and how-to-do's.
Faceting classes are offered on an as needed basis. Faceting 101 is a 3-hour introduction to the art of faceting and is a pre-requisite to "Cutting Your First Stone", an 8-hour class which takes a new cutter all the way from start to finish on faceting their first stone.
In addition, instruction is offered from time to time on various other advanced topics, ranging from Mastering the Ceramic Lap to WinGemCad , Free-Form Stones and many other topics. Once or twice a year we bring in guest speakers to share their expertise and we also have rock and gem sales at one or two of the regular meetings during the year.
